 Steps for Controlling Hemorrhage

• Identify the Source: Expose the wound to find the exact source of bleeding.
• Direct Pressure: Apply firm, direct pressure with both hands directly onto the bleeding site.
• Wound Packing: If the wound is deep (e.g., in the groin or armpit), pack it tightly with gauze or clean cloth, then apply continuous pressure.
• Pressure Dressing: Once bleeding is controlled, apply a pressure bandage or wrap to hold the gauze in place.
• Do Not Remove Gauze: If blood soaks through, add more layers on top rather than removing the initial, clot-forming layer.
