Ohio Open Burning Regulations
- Prohibited Times: 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during March, April, May, October, and November.
- Location Restrictions: The ban primarily applies to unincorporated areas. Within city/village limits, or within 1,000 feet of such areas, tighter restrictions or bans often exist.
- What Cannot Be Burned: It is illegal to burn food waste, dead animals, materials containing rubber, grease, asphalt, or petroleum products.
- Safety Requirements: Fires must be more than 1,000 feet from a neighbor's inhabited building.
- Liability: Individuals are liable for damages caused by their fires.
- Exceptions: Small fires for cooking, heating, or ceremonial purposes are typically allowed, as are training fires by fire departments.

- Air Pollution Alerts: Burning is prohibited when an air pollution alert is in effect.
